Holi Skin Care Tips: Holi is a festival of joy and colors, but if you're not careful, these colors can be harmful to your skin. Chemical-based colors and gulal available in the market can cause skin irritation, itching, and allergies.

Adopt this protective shield before playing Holi.
Dr. Amarjeet Singh advises preparing your skin for protection before heading out to play Holi. He advises applying coconut oil or a good moisturizer to the face and exposed parts of the body to minimize the effects of chemical-based colors. This creates a protective layer on the skin, preventing the harmful effects of the colors from penetrating the pores, making it easier to remove them later.
Changing Weather and Skin Care
Since the weather changes during Holi, the skin becomes more sensitive. According to Dr. Singh, even slight negligence during this time can cause long-term skin problems. He recommends using natural and herbal colors as much as possible. Some cheap gulal may also contain glass particles or harmful chemicals, which can cause wounds or serious infections if rubbed on the face.
What to do if you get stained with a persistent color?
People often resort to using harsh soaps or other chemical products to remove stubborn color. Dr. Amarjeet Singh advised that if stubborn color gets on your face, first wash it with plain water and use your regular soap. If the color doesn't come off, don't scrub it repeatedly. Excessive rubbing can cause skin peeling and wounds. In such cases, be patient and let the color come off naturally.

Negligence can be costly.
Experts warn that if you experience itching, burning, or a rash after playing Holi, consult a specialist immediately instead of self-treating at home. Hospitals often see an increase in patients with eye and skin problems after Holi. If people take precautions and adopt preventative measures in advance, they may not need to go to the hospital.
