Have you seen this miraculous temple in Mathura? It is not Radha who is worshipped alongside Kanha, but a handmaiden..

On the occasion of Janmashtami, a unique vibrancy fills temples everywhere—from Mathura-Vrindavan to every corner of the globe. Whenever we visit a temple dedicated to Krishna, our eyes naturally seek out Radharani alongside Thakurji.

But imagine visiting a temple where, instead of Radha, someone else stands beside Kanha. Indeed, in Mathura—the city of Krishna—there exists a miraculous, 500-year-old temple that is unlike any other in the world.

Located on Mathura's *Parikrama Marg* (circumambulation path), this mysterious temple enshrines not only Shri Krishna but also a devotee of His whom the world once mocked relentlessly. This Janmashtami, let us introduce you to Mathura’s 'Shri Krishna Kubja Temple,' a place where it is claimed that merely catching a glimpse of the deity can cure skin-related ailments.

**A Miraculous Shrine That Heals Skin Ailments**
It is believed that the 'Shri Krishna Kubja Temple' in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, is the only temple in the world where a mere *darshan* (sight) of the Lord can resolve all manner of skin-related physical issues. Devotees hold an unwavering belief that bathing in the temple's water and offering prayers with a sincere heart can transform even the most damaged skin into healthy, beautiful skin. Driven by this hope, people travel from far and wide to seek blessings for health and beauty here.

**Who Was Kubja, and Why Was She Mocked?**
The story behind this unique temple is fascinating. According to ancient legends, Kubja was a maidservant to Kansa—the King of Mathura and Kanha’s maternal uncle. Physically, she was hunchbacked, and her appearance was considered unattractive. Due to her physical condition, she faced significant scorn in society, and the people of Mathura often mocked her looks. These taunts caused Kubja great suffering in her life.

**A Single Touch from Kanha Transformed the Maidservant**
When Lord Krishna arrived in Mathura, He caught sight of Kubja along the way. Upon seeing her, the Lord repeatedly addressed her as 'Sundari' (Beautiful Lady). Kubja, who had endured the taunts of others all her life, felt that perhaps even Shri Krishna was mocking her. Deeply hurt by this thought, she began to weep.

Seeing tears in His devotee's eyes, the Lord performed a divine miracle. Shri Krishna placed His foot upon hers and, while lifting her face with His hands, straightened her stooped back. It is believed that the moment the Lord touched her, a great miracle occurred; all of Kubja's suffering vanished, and in the blink of an eye, she was transformed into a woman of exquisite beauty.

Following this event, Kubja became one of Shri Krishna's most devoted followers. This inspired faith among the people, leading to the installation of an idol of Kubja alongside Muralidhar (Shri Krishna) in this temple.
