Hartalika Teej and Ganesh Chaturthi are among the major festivals in Hinduism. On Hartalika Teej, married women observe a *Nirjala* fast (a fast without water) to pray for their husbands' longevity and a happy married life. Meanwhile, on Ganesh Chaturthi, an idol of Lord Ganesha is installed and worshipped according to prescribed rituals. Typically, Ganesh Chaturthi falls the day after Hartalika Teej; however, in 2026, due to the alignment of dates in the Hindu calendar (*Panchang*), both festivals will be celebrated on the same day.

This unique coincidence arises because the *Tritiya* (third day) and *Chaturthi* (fourth day) *tithis* (lunar days) coincide on the same calendar date. Let us find out when Hartalika Teej and Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated this year and the auspicious timings for worshipping on both occasions.

**Both festivals to be celebrated together on September 14**

In 2026, the festivals of Hartalika Teej and Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on Monday, September 14. According to the *Panchang*, the *Tritiya Tithi* will prevail until 7:06 AM on this day, after which the *Chaturthi Tithi* will begin. Since the *Tritiya Tithi* is active at sunrise, it is considered appropriate to observe the Hartalika Teej fast on September 14.

The *Chaturthi Tithi* will commence on the same day after 7:06 AM. Lord Ganesha is believed to have been born during the *Madhyahna Kaal* (midday period) of the *Chaturthi Tithi*; therefore, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi will also be celebrated on this date. The *Madhyahna Kaal* holds special significance for the worship of Lord Ganesha, and this auspicious time will be available on September 14 itself.

**Auspicious timing (*Muhurat*) for Hartalika Teej 2026**

On September 14, the auspicious time for Hartalika Teej worship will be from 6:05 AM to 7:06 AM. Performing the puja during this period is considered especially rewarding. If, for any reason, it is not possible to perform the puja at this time, one may also worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati during the *Pradosh Kaal* (evening period).
