Vir Das has ventured into the world of direction with his recent film 'Happy Patel: Dangerous Spy'. Another notable aspect of this film is that it marks Imran Khan's return to the screen after a long hiatus. This first directorial venture by Vir Das was released in theaters on January 16th. 'Happy Patel: Dangerous Spy' is produced by Aamir Khan. Meanwhile, Vir Das revealed that Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's spy films played a significant role in bringing his film 'Happy Patel' to the screen.

Vir Das explained how films like 'Pathaan' and 'Tiger 3' helped bring the story of 'Happy Patel' to life. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Vir said, "When I started pitching the idea for this film, everyone asked how a spy comedy film would work in India? Then I saw the craze for films like Pathaan and Tiger. I understood that this is becoming a big trend now."
Comedy always goes against the mainstream.
Vir further added, "Comedy always goes against the mainstream, meaning that when something becomes very popular, that's when it's fun to make a comedic version of it. Now that the spy genre is at its peak in Indian cinema, this is the perfect time to bring out a comedic version. I decided to rewrite the entire script after watching Pathaan or Tiger 3 about two years ago."
Was Vir Das nervous about Aamir Khan's film?
With this film, Aamir Khan and Imran Khan are coming together after many years, and Aamir himself is returning to the screen after a long time. When Vir Das was asked if this made him nervous, he said, "Absolutely, I'm nervous. I've watched my film at least 800 times to make sure that everything, from the sound of footsteps to the sound of gunshots, is absolutely perfect."

Aamir Khan's working style is inspiring.
He further added that Aamir Khan's working style is very inspiring. Before releasing the film, they conduct at least 30 test screenings. When you show the film to different groups of people 22 or 25 times and keep making changes based on their feedback, that's when you finally get people saying things like, "The second half of the film flew by, and the climax was absolutely fantastic." And that's exactly what you want as a director.
