When to Buy Gold on Akshaya Tritiya: The auspicious festival of Akshaya Tritiya falls on Sunday, April 19th. This year, six auspicious *Yogas* (planetary alignments) are forming on Akshaya Tritiya, making the occasion even more spiritually fruitful and meritorious. People typically purchase gold on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. On this day, bullion markets buzz with activity right from the morning. People purchase gold, gold jewelry, silver, and other precious items according to their financial means. So, when exactly should one buy gold on Akshaya Tritiya—in the morning or in the evening? What is the most appropriate time to purchase gold on the day of Akshaya Tritiya?

The Best Time to Buy Gold on Akshaya Tritiya
According to religious scriptures, Akshaya Tritiya is observed on the *Tritiya Tithi* (third lunar day) of the *Shukla Paksha* (waxing phase of the moon) in the month of *Vaishakh*. The auspicious influence of Akshaya Tritiya remains active throughout the entire duration of this *Tithi*—from the moment it begins until the moment it concludes. The entire span of the Akshaya Tritiya *Tithi* is considered a time for attaining imperishable spiritual merit (*Akshaya Punya*). Any auspicious deed or ritual performed during this *Tritiya Tithi* yields eternal, imperishable spiritual rewards.
If you wish to purchase gold on Akshaya Tritiya, you may do so at any time from morning until night. There is no specific significance attached to whether you buy it in the morning or in the evening. You are free to purchase gold at whatever time is most convenient for you.
This year, Akshaya Tritiya begins on April 19th at 10:49 AM. The auspicious period of Akshaya Tritiya will continue until 7:49 AM on Monday, April 20th. Therefore, you may purchase gold at any time between 10:49 AM on April 19th and 7:49 AM on April 20th.
It is important to understand that the act of purchasing gold and the act of performing *Puja* (worship) are two distinct matters. The *Puja* (worship) for Akshay Tritiya is traditionally performed during the afternoon hours, as the scriptures accord significance to the *Madhyahna-vyapini Muhurat* (the auspicious period prevailing at midday) for this purpose. Conversely, the purchase of gold, silver, property, and similar assets can be undertaken at any time on Akshay Tritiya; there is no need to consult a specific *Muhurat* for such purchases, as the entire duration of Akshay Tritiya is considered a *Swayamsiddha Muhurat*—a self-validating, inherently auspicious time.
**Auspicious Timings for Shopping on Akshay Tritiya**
Even though Akshay Tritiya is considered an *Abujh Muhurat* (an inherently auspicious day requiring no specific astrological consultation), if you still wish to identify specific auspicious moments for shopping, you may refer to the day's *Shubh Choghadiya Muhurats*. You may conduct your purchases during these specific intervals.
On the day of Akshay Tritiya, the *Amrit-Sarvottam Muhurat* (most excellent auspicious period) will prevail from 10:43 AM to 12:20 PM. Subsequently, the *Shubh-Uttam Muhurat* (excellent auspicious period) will occur in the afternoon, from 1:58 PM to 3:35 PM. In the evening, the *Shubh-Uttam Muhurat* will extend from 6:49 PM to 8:12 PM, while the *Amrit-Sarvottam Muhurat* will be observed from 8:12 PM to 9:35 PM. On April 20th, the *Labh-Unnati Muhurat* (period for gain and progress) will be active from 1:43 AM to 3:05 AM, followed by the *Shubh-Uttam Muhurat* from 4:28 AM to 5:51 AM.
**Akshay Tritiya: Exceptionally Auspicious Under Specific Conjunctions**
The scriptures state that Akshay Tritiya is considered exceptionally auspicious when the *Vaishakh Shukla Tritiya Tithi* (the third lunar day of the bright half of the month of Vaishakh) coincides with a Monday and the *Rohini Nakshatra* (lunar mansion). This year, the rare conjunction of the *Vaishakh Shukla Tritiya Tithi*, a Monday, and the *Rohini Nakshatra* occurs on April 20th; however, this specific alignment is limited to the time window between 4:35 AM and 7:49 AM. Consequently, this timing neither aligns with the traditional afternoon *Muhurat* for the *Puja*, nor does it allow for the purchase of gold, as bullion markets typically remain closed during these early morning hours.
