Ganga Saptami 2026 Remedies: Ganga Saptami falls today, Thursday, April 23rd. On the day of Ganga Saptami, five auspicious planetary alignments (Yogas) are forming. Consequently, the day of Ganga Saptami has become even more spiritually meritorious and fruitful. Every year, Ganga Saptami is celebrated on the *Saptami* (seventh) Tithi of the *Shukla Paksha* (waxing phase of the moon) during the month of *Vaishakh*. Bathing in the Ganges and performing acts of charity on this day are believed to yield eternal spiritual merit (*Akshaya Punya*) and absolve one of sins. Ultimately, an individual attains *Moksha* (salvation) at the end of their life. This year, on Ganga Saptami, you can achieve progress and prosperity in your life by observing certain simple remedies. Let us explore the auspicious alignments, timings (*Muhurat*), and significance associated with Ganga Saptami.

Why is Ganga Saptami Celebrated?
According to mythological legends, King Bhagiratha undertook rigorous penance to secure salvation (*Moksha*) for his 60,000 ancestors, to bring the holy river Ganges down from the heavens to the earth. He first pleased Lord Brahma through his asceticism; subsequently, on the *Saptami* Tithi of *Vaishakh Shukla Paksha*, Mother Ganga emerged from Lord Brahma's *Kamandalu* (water pot). For this reason, Ganga Saptami is celebrated annually on the *Saptami* Tithi of *Vaishakh Shukla Paksha*. After her manifestation, the Ganges descended to the earth, flowing through the matted locks of Lord Shiva; her mere touch granted salvation to King Sagara's 60,000 sons.

**Perform These 6 Acts on Ganga Saptami**
On the morning of Ganga Saptami, the auspicious *Sukarma Yoga*, *Dhriti Yoga*, and *Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga* are in effect. Therefore, you should take a holy dip in the Ganges River during the morning hours. If you are unable to bathe in the Ganges itself, you may perform your bath by adding a few drops of *Gangajal* (holy water from the Ganges) to your bathwater. By the grace of Mother Ganga, your sins will be absolved.
On the day of Ganga Saptami, following your bath, perform the act of *Jal Daan* (donating water). Throughout the entire month of *Vaishakh*, the act of donating water is considered highly meritorious and yields spiritual merit. Here, *Jal Daan* specifically refers to offering water to quench the thirst of those in need.
Ganga Saptami coincides with the formation of the *Guru Pushya Yoga*. During the *Guru Pushya Yoga*, you may undertake any auspicious activity. It is considered highly conducive to progress and prosperity to make purchases—such as property, a new car, gold, silver, etc.—during this specific *Yoga*.

During this *Guru Pushya Yoga*, you should worship Goddess Lakshmi with full adherence to the prescribed rituals (*Vidhi-Vidhan*). Through the grace of Goddess Lakshmi, your wealth, assets, and overall prosperity will witness a significant increase.
To please Mother Ganga on Ganga Saptami, you may recite the *Ganga Stotra*. Reciting this hymn helps absolve sins and bestows happiness and peace of mind. It is also believed to facilitate the attainment of *Moksha* (liberation).
On the auspicious occasion of Ganga Saptami, perform the *Abhishek* (ritual bathing) of a *Shivling* using *Gangajal*. This act will please Mother Ganga. Through the grace of Lord Shiva, your afflictions will be alleviated, and your heartfelt wishes will be fulfilled.
