As soon as the summer season arrives, watermelon becomes everyone's top choice. This fruit not only keeps the body cool but is also considered beneficial for various health issues. Notably, its seeds are just as beneficial—a fact that people often overlook.

Watermelon is the most popular fruit during the summer season; it not only provides a cooling effect to the body but is also incredibly sweet and juicy in taste. Whether children or adults, everyone eats it with great enthusiasm. Due to its high water content, it helps keep the body hydrated and also offers protection against heatstroke. People often discard watermelon seeds after eating the fruit, deeming them useless; however, in reality, these seeds are a treasure trove of nutrition. They contain a variety of nutrients, the regular consumption of which helps strengthen the body's immune system.
Dr. Amit Verma (MD Medicine), a physician at the District Hospital Barabanki, explained that it is not just the watermelon fruit, but its seeds as well, that are highly beneficial for our health. They possess various medicinal properties. Both the watermelon fruit and its seeds contain nutrients such as protein, Vitamin A, potassium, magnesium, iron, and phosphorus, which help protect us from numerous diseases.
Watermelon is also considered beneficial in cases of fever. Grinding its rind into a paste and applying it topically provides relief from fever and the associated burning sensation in the body. Additionally, drinking a mixture of 10–40 ml of watermelon juice combined with sugar and honey is beneficial for alleviating fever.
Consuming watermelon is considered helpful for those suffering from headaches. Drinking 30–40 ml of watermelon juice mixed with rock sugar (Mishri) provides relief from headaches.
Watermelon is also considered beneficial for individuals suffering from jaundice. Consuming the fruit's juice mixed with an equal amount of buttermilk and salt (to taste) proves beneficial in such cases. Additionally, consuming 10–30 ml of watermelon juice is beneficial in cases of jaundice.
Consuming watermelon is considered beneficial for alleviating vomiting. To help stop vomiting, drinking a mixture of 5–10 ml of watermelon juice combined with lemon juice provides relief.

Consuming watermelon is also considered beneficial for addressing physical weakness. To combat this, grinding 5–10 grams of watermelon seeds into a powder and consuming it mixed with an equal amount of rock sugar helps eliminate weakness and restore strength to the body.
Watermelon seeds are considered beneficial for relieving itching. Applying a paste made from ground watermelon seeds to the affected area provides relief from itching.
