**'Tarpan' reaches ancestors through the Sun God**

Pandit Kalki Ram explains that when a person passes away, religious tradition honors them as a *Pitri* (ancestor). During Pitru Paksha, rituals like *Tarpan*, *Shraddha*, and *Pind Daan* are performed to pray for their peace and spiritual liberation. According to religious beliefs, donating food, clothing, and other useful items to the needy during this period earns spiritual merit. The astrologer notes that the Sun God holds special significance in the religious traditions associated with Pitru Paksha; the Sun God is considered the medium through which offerings reach the ancestors. Consequently, there is a tradition of offering *Arghya* (water offering) to the Sun and performing acts of charity according to one's means during this period.

It is believed that offerings made through the Sun God ultimately reach Lord Vishnu. According to astrologers, the most important sentiments when making donations based on one's zodiac sign are reverence and a spirit of service; one should donate food, clothing, or useful items to the needy according to one's means.
