Typically, when a film continues to draw audiences to theaters several weeks after its release, its OTT release is postponed for some time. However, the situation seems different in the case of the superhit film 'Dhurandhar'. Released on December 5th last year, the film is still running strong in theaters and continues to earn revenue. Despite this, preparations for its digital release have already begun.

Now, the question isn't just when 'Dhurandhar' will be released on OTT, but also whether releasing a film that is still earning money in theaters on an OTT platform will benefit or harm the makers. How much was the deal worth?

According to reports, the digital rights of 'Dhurandhar' have been sold to an OTT platform. It is being reported that the deal was worth approximately 285 crore rupees. Significantly, this deal includes both parts of the film - 'Dhurandhar' and 'Dhurandhar 2'. However, an official announcement is still awaited.

The first week of February is ideal.

Sources associated with the OTT platform said, "There is no ambiguity regarding the film's OTT release. It has already completed its stipulated 6 to 8 weeks in theaters.  Therefore, the first week of February is considered the most opportune time. As soon as its theatrical run slows down, the film will be released on OTT to maintain audience interest. Although an official announcement is yet to be made, all preparations have been made keeping the first week of February in mind."

No major competing film: Deepak Dua, Film Critic

Commenting on the changing dynamics between theaters and OTT, film critic Deepak Dua said, "A major portion of any big film's earnings comes in the initial 6 to 8 weeks. However, 'Dhurandhar' is still running in theaters." If a major film had been released alongside it, 'Dhruva' would have already been relegated to OTT platforms. Once 'Border 2' is released, its box office earnings will be affected, and that will be the right time for its OTT release. An OTT release won't harm its theatrical run; those who wanted to see the film have already seen it in theaters. Many people are even going to see it again. However, if the makers release both parts on OTT simultaneously, it could be detrimental because viewers are waiting for the film's OTT release. This is the right time for the release. The second part should be released on OTT later.'
