If you, too, wish to escape this daily stress, 'Bread Upma' is the perfect recipe for you. The best part is that it requires a negligible amount of oil to prepare and is ready in a matter of minutes. Let's discover the easiest way to make it.

Ingredients for Bread Upma
Bread Slices: 4-5 (Brown or white—whichever you prefer)
Oil: Just 1 or 2 teaspoons
Mustard Seeds (Rai): 1/2 teaspoon
Curry Leaves: 7-8 leaves
Green Chilies: 1-2 (Finely chopped)
Onion: 1 (Finely chopped)
Tomato: 1 (Finely chopped)
Turmeric Powder: 1/4 teaspoon
Salt: To taste
Lemon Juice: 1 teaspoon
Fresh Coriander: For garnish (Finely chopped)
Peanuts: A small handful (Roasted, optional)

Method for Preparing Bread Upma
First, take the bread slices and cut them into small square pieces. Alternatively, you can simply tear them roughly into pieces using your hands.
Take a non-stick pan or wok (kadai) and heat a small amount of oil in it. As soon as the oil heats up, add the mustard seeds. Once the mustard seeds begin to splutter, add the curry leaves and finely chopped green chilies, and sauté for a few seconds.

Now, add the finely chopped onion and sauté until it turns a light pink color. As soon as the onion softens, add the tomato, turmeric powder, and salt. To help the tomatoes soften faster, you can sprinkle in 2-3 teaspoons of water. Cook this until the tomatoes have softened thoroughly.

Once this tangy masala base is ready, add the chopped bread pieces. Mix gently but thoroughly to ensure the masala coats the bread evenly. Now, lower the flame and let it cook covered for 1 to 2 minutes; this allows the bread to soften and absorb the flavors of the spices.

Finally, turn off the heat. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top, add roasted peanuts, and garnish with fresh green coriander.

And there you have it! Your low-oil, super-tasty, and healthy Bread Upma is now ready to serve. Enjoy it with your morning tea or coffee.
