The Significance of Bada Mangal
The Tuesdays occurring during the month of Jyeshtha are referred to as *Bada Mangal* or *Budhwa Mangal*. Several religious beliefs and legends are associated with this tradition. It is believed that it was during this very period that Lord Hanuman and Lord Shri Rama first met. Consequently, this entire month is considered to be extremely dear to Lord Hanuman. Worshipping Him during this time is said to invoke His special grace, and it is widely believed that the wishes and desires of devotees are fulfilled. According to another legend, during the era of the *Mahabharata*, Bhima took great pride in his immense strength; to humble his arrogance, Lord Hanuman assumed the guise of an elderly monkey. When Bhima proved unable to even lift Hanuman's tail, he realized the limits of his own power; for this very reason, this day came to be known as *Budhwa Mangal* (The Old Man's Tuesday). In light of these beliefs, the significance of Tuesdays falling within the month of *Jyeshtha* is further heightened. It is widely believed that offering devotion to Lord Hanuman on this day bestows courage, strength, and liberation from suffering.
