Are you making this mistake while offering *bhog*? Read important facts about seeded fruits here..

Performing rituals and offering *bhog* (sacred food) to the deity reflects our faith. Devotees often wonder which fruits are auspicious to offer to God and the proper way to present them. In this article, we explore whether it is appropriate to offer fruits containing seeds to the deity and whether this practice is considered auspicious or inauspicious. We also discuss the guidelines for making such offerings.

Is it auspicious to offer fruits with seeds to the deity?
In Sanatan Dharma, fruit is considered a *Sattvic* (pure and wholesome) and excellent offering. Offering seasonal fruits to the Divine is regarded as the best practice. You may offer fruits with seeds to the deity, but they should be presented in a manner similar to how we consume them ourselves; do not offer them with the seeds intact. If the fruit has large seeds—such as mangoes or watermelons—remove the seeds before placing the fruit before the deity, so that He may partake of it easily, just as we do.

Important points to consider before making the offering
It is not just the selection of the fruit that matters, but also the method of offering it; this ensures the offering is made correctly.

Wash the fruit thoroughly with clean water before offering it, ensuring there is no dust, dirt, or insects on it.

Fruits should be washed, peeled, and cut only at the time of worship. Do not include pre-cut fruit in the offering, as it is considered impure.

If the fruits are large, cut them with a clean knife before offering them.

Always include a *Tulsi* (holy basil) leaf in the offering, as it makes the *bhog* delightful to the deity.

The most important rule regarding offerings is devotion. God looks for the devotee's love, not merely the material object. Cast aside any ego and focus your mind on the Divine while making the offering.

There should be no hesitation in offering fruits with seeds to the Divine; simply remember that the deity is like a child. Just as you carefully prepare food for children, maintain the same faith and care when offering food to God. Follow the guidelines and serve the Divine with devotion.
