It is said that if items in the home are placed in the correct direction and location, it not only maintains a pleasant atmosphere but also invites positive energy. Therefore, adhering to Vastu principles when arranging household items is essential. According to Vastu, placing certain household objects directly on the floor is considered inauspicious.

Doing so can disrupt the home's energy and lead to financial difficulties. Moreover, this minor oversight can give rise to *Vastu Dosh* (Vastu-related defects).
If you wish to maintain happiness and prosperity in your home, it is important to be aware of these Vastu guidelines. Let us look at the items that should not be placed directly on the floor to avoid potential problems.
**Do Not Place the Home Temple on the Floor**
According to Vastu, you should never place your home temple directly on the floor. It should always be placed on a raised platform (*chowki*) or a piece of cloth.
If the temple is large, place wooden blocks or stone slabs underneath it. Worship performed at a temple placed directly on the floor does not yield the full spiritual benefits. Similarly, a *Shivling* or *Shaligram* should never be placed directly on the ground, as doing so can incur *Vastu Dosh*.
**Prayer Lamp (*Diya*)**
Whenever you perform *Aarti* or light a lamp at home, never place it directly on the floor. Always place the lamp on a plate or a raised platform (*chowki*).
**Ritual Pot (*Kalash*)**
It is often observed that people place the *Kalash* directly on the floor when setting it up for worship. This is incorrect and prevents one from receiving the full benefits of the ritual. When placing a *Kalash*, spread some rice or wheat grains underneath it. Alternatively, you can place a small amount of soil or sand beneath the *Kalash* during installation.
**Food Plate**
If you are eating while sitting on the floor, ensure that your plate of food is never placed directly on the ground. Doing so is considered disrespectful to Goddess Annapurna and creates *Vastu Dosh* in the home. Instead, place your plate respectfully on a raised platform (*chowki*) before eating.

Study Books
According to Vastu, Goddess Saraswati resides in books of all kinds; therefore, you should never place books directly on the floor. Doing so could lead to mental stress.
If you—knowingly or unknowingly—make such a mistake, please keep this in mind and avoid placing these items directly on the ground.
