Rare Conjunction on Sawan Mondays (2026): The holy month of Sawan 2026 began on Thursday, July 30, and will continue until August 28. This year, the fasts for the Mondays of Sawan will be observed four times. The third Monday is generating the most discussion because a rare celestial alignment is occurring on this auspicious day after 23 years, making it the most special and auspicious day of the entire month. The second, third, and final Monday fasts of Sawan are garnering significant attention due to the formation of various auspicious *Yogas* (astrological combinations) and rare alignments, which further enhance their significance.

Worshipping Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati during this month—beloved by Lord Shiva—is considered to yield exceptionally auspicious results. It is believed that observing the fast and performing worship brings relief from all forms of suffering. Let us learn more about this rare alignment occurring on the Mondays of Sawan...
The fast for the first Monday of Sawan was observed on August 3. A large number of devotees visited Shiva temples across the country to perform *Jalabhishek* (ritual bathing with water) of Lord Shiva. On this day, an auspicious combination of *Sukarma Yoga* and *Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga* was formed. Performing a special *Jalabhishek* of Lord Shiva is recommended to overcome financial troubles, debt, or monetary obstacles.
August 10 marks the second Monday of Sawan. On this day, a rare alignment occurs where the Monday fast coincides with *Trayodashi Tithi* (the 13th lunar day) and the *Pradosh Vrat*. Worshipping Lord Shiva during this auspicious alignment is believed to yield manifold blessings. Performing *Jalabhishek* and *Rudrabhishek* of Lord Shiva on this day helps fulfill one's wishes. Offerings of *Belpatra* (wood apple leaves), *Dhatura*, and milk should be made to the *Shivling*.
August 17 marks the third Monday of Sawan. After 23 years, a Sawan Monday and *Nag Panchami* are falling on the same day, creating a grand alignment known as '*Somvati Nag Panchami*.' Performing *Abhishek* on the *Shivling* with sandalwood paste, *Belpatra*, and a mixture of milk and *Gangajal* (holy water from the Ganges) on this day will bring immense spiritual merit. Additionally, a wonderful combination of *Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga* and *Shivvas* (Lord Shiva's presence) is also forming on this day. August 24th marks the fourth Monday of the month of Sawan.
This day coincides with the auspicious *Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga*. It will be the final Monday of the Sawan month. Worshipping Lord Shiva on this day is considered especially rewarding. Fulfilling one's wishes is believed to be possible by performing *Aarti* for Lord Shiva after offering water and *Gangajal* (water from the Ganges) to the *Shivling*, followed by offerings of coconut, black sesame seeds, *Bel* leaves, incense, a lamp (*Deep*), and *Naivedya* (sacred food offering).
In the Sanatan tradition, both Sawan Mondays and Nag Panchami hold special religious significance. This year, a rare coincidence has occurred after 23 years, with the festival of Nag Panchami falling on a Sawan Monday. It is believed that worshipping Lord Shiva according to prescribed rituals, performing *Jalabhishek* (ritual bathing with water), and worshipping the Serpent Deity (*Nag Devta*) on this day yields immense spiritual merit.
