Actor Vivek Oberoi, who is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Masti 4, has sparked discussion with a surprising statement about Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. During a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, Oberoi shared his thoughts on the changing nature of fame and claimed that future generations might not even know who SRK is.
“People Will Forget Shah Rukh Khan,” Says Vivek Oberoi
Shah Rukh Khan, often regarded as one of the most popular and influential film stars in the world, has given Indian cinema iconic romantic hits like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. However, according to Vivek Oberoi, even legends are not immune to fading from public memory.
While discussing how fame evolves over time, Oberoi said:
“Ask anyone today about movies from the 1960s—nobody remembers who worked in what. You eventually become a part of history. In 2050, people may ask, ‘Who is Shah Rukh Khan?’”
His remark has stirred mixed reactions among fans, considering Shah Rukh Khan continues to be one of India’s biggest global superstars.
SRK Recently Turned 60 and Won His First National Award
Interestingly, the comment comes at a time when Shah Rukh Khan is enjoying one of the most celebrated phases of his career. Earlier this month, he turned 60, celebrating the milestone with his fans in Mumbai. In September, SRK received his first National Award for Best Actor for his performance in Atlee’s blockbuster film Jawan. He is now gearing up for his upcoming project titled “King.”
Vivek Oberoi Compares SRK With Raj Kapoor
During the same interaction, Oberoi also compared the fading of fame across generations. He mentioned how many young cinegoers today may not know much about legendary actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor, despite his enormous contribution to Indian cinema.
Oberoi said:
“Just like today many youngsters ask, ‘Who is Raj Kapoor?’ You and I may call him the god of cinema, but young fans of Ranbir Kapoor might not even know who his grandfather was. History eventually pushes us into obscurity.”
His comments highlight how generational memory works and how even the biggest icons may not stay relevant forever.
What’s Next for Vivek Oberoi?
On the professional front, Vivek Oberoi is gearing up for the release of “Masti 4,” the next instalment in the popular comedy franchise. Apart from this, he is also part of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film “Spirit”, starring Prabhas, Triptii Dimri, and Prakash Raj. The audio teaser of the film was unveiled recently on Prabhas’ birthday, generating widespread excitement among fans.
