Tea Making: Should you add milk or water to tea first? Find out the perfect way to make it..

In India, tea is not merely a beverage but an integral part of daily life. Whether starting the morning or shaking off the day's fatigue, a hot cup of tea refreshes the mood. However, a common question arises when making tea: should the milk be added first, or the water? Preparation methods vary from household to household, but knowing the correct sequence is essential if you want to brew a delicious, aromatic, and balanced cup of tea.

Why is adding water first considered better?
According to tea experts, one should boil the water first. Adding tea leaves to boiling water allows the flavor, color, and aroma to fully infuse. If milk is added at the very beginning, the flavor of the tea leaves does not develop properly.

After boiling the tea leaves in water for one to two minutes, ingredients like ginger, cardamom, or other spices can be added to further enhance the taste.

When should the milk be added?

It is best to add milk once the tea leaves have boiled thoroughly in the water and the brew has turned a deep color. Afterward, boil the mixture for another two to three minutes. This allows the flavors of the milk and tea to blend perfectly and gives the tea an appealing color.
