Surya Grahan 2026 Date and Time
The second solar eclipse of the year will occur on August 12th. This day also coincides with Hariyali Amavasya. The eclipse will begin at 9:04 pm and end at 4:25 am on August 13th. This eclipse will be visible in India, making the Sutak period inadmissible.
What to Do During a Solar Eclipse
Do not start any new work during the Sutak period, such as marriage, mundan (head shaving ceremony), or housewarming.
Performing puja (worship) or touching idols of gods and goddesses is prohibited during the eclipse. In this case, chant the Gayatri Mantra, Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, and Surya Mantra silently.
After the eclipse is over, bathe in water dipped in Ganga water. Afterward, clean your home and temple.
Light a lamp with pure ghee and perform puja (worship).
Donate food, money, and other items to temples or the poor.
Stick food items with Tulsi leaves before the Sutak period.
What Not to Do During a Solar Eclipse
Do not perform puja (worship) during the solar eclipse.
Do not touch idols of God.
Do not eat food.
Do not use sharp objects like knives and needles.
Do not perform auspicious activities like engagement and marriage.
Also, do not pluck Tulsi leaves.
Do not argue with anyone.
