On November 20, Smriti Mandhana chose a fun way to share a special moment from her personal life. She confirmed her engagement to musician Palash Muchhal through an Instagram Reel. The situation became more complicated when a user on the social media platform Reddit shared screenshots of alleged chats. It claimed the chats were between Palash and a woman named Mary De Costa. Screenshots allegedly show these chats from May 2025. In the chats, a message was sent from an Instagram account named Palash to a woman, in which they discussed swimming and meeting together.
