Liquor Sale on Holi 2025: A New Record in the Making

Ranchi, Jharkhand – This year, liquor sales in Jharkhand during Holi are expected to surpass ₹100 crore, setting a new record. Last year, liquor sales reached approximately ₹92 crore in just three days, whereas in 2023, the total sales stood at around ₹70 crore.

Among all districts, Ranchi witnessed the highest liquor sales last year, amounting to nearly ₹13 crore, followed by Dhanbad and Hazaribagh. This year too, these districts are expected to record the highest liquor sales.

Strict Measures Against Illegal Liquor Sales

To curb the sale of illegal liquor, authorities in all districts have been instructed to take strict action. Raids are being conducted at various locations to prevent unauthorized liquor trade. Several instances of illegal liquor seizures have already been reported in recent days.

₹2700 Crore Revenue Target from Liquor in FY 2025-26

The Jharkhand government has set a liquor revenue target of approximately ₹2700 crore for the financial year 2025-26. Additionally, strict actions will be taken against sellers who overcharge customers beyond the Maximum Retail Price (MRP). District administrations have received clear instructions to monitor and regulate liquor sales effectively.
