Hindu Fasting Rules: Fasting is very important in Sanatan Dharma. On festivals and celebrations, people observe fasts for their mental and physical purity and strength. Many methods have been described for observing fasts. During fasting, a person should follow some rules. These rules have been prescribed by our sages as per the scriptures. If those rules are not followed during fasting, then the fast is broken. Instead of the fruits obtained during fasting, sins are committed. Therefore, during fasting, a person should follow the rules with full devotion.

World-famous spiritual saint Premanand Maharaj told about some rules regarding fasting. By not following these rules, a person's fast is not completed but sins are also committed. Forgiveness, truth, kindness, charity, cleanliness, sensory control, worship of God, Agnihotra, satisfaction, and not stealing, these 10 rules are considered essential in all fasts. Let us know in detail about the rules of fasting.
According to Hindu beliefs, the fast can be broken due to many reasons: Sleeping during the day on the day of the fast. Speaking ill of someone during the fast. Eating something or the other repeatedly during the fast. Going to the toilet repeatedly during the fast. Behaving badly during the fast. Having wrong conduct during the fast. Having a wrong attitude during the fast. Eating calorie-rich things during the fast. Eating things that affect blood sugar during the fast.
During the fast, we should not eat repeatedly during the day. This breaks the fast. If we defecate repeatedly during the day after bathing and completing daily activities, then this also breaks the fast. Sitting with people and speaking ill of or backbiting another person during the fast breaks the fast. Having sex during the night also breaks the fast.
If the fast is broken by mistake, then instead of getting worried, these measures can be taken: The thing which broke the fast by eating it should be donated. According to the scriptures, if the fast is broken, then havan should be performed. You should ask for forgiveness from your Ishta Dev. You should worship your Ishta Dev and offer water. You should take a vow to fast. You should keep the fast again. After keeping the broken fast again, you should break it the next day.
