Parenting: Using makeup at a young age is harming your daughter..

Mummy also wears lipstick, and I also want to wear the same dress as my mother. Sometimes, in order to make her daughter look different from others, the mother herself applies her lipstick and makeup.

Excessive use of makeup gives a strong twist to the physical and mental development of girls. Makeup causes skin irritation and allergies, as well as disturbs the hormonal balance of girls. The increasing use of makeup on the entire face of girls from the age of seven or eight is having serious consequences on their physical development.

At an early age, the focus of these girls shifts from creative expression to physical appearance. Not only this, but the skin of girls is more sensitive to the harmful chemicals present in cosmetics than that of adults, as a result of which they develop hormonal disturbances and conditions like premature puberty. This disturbance brings emotional and psychological challenges, but the girl does not develop understanding and tolerance towards it, due to which she starts getting mentally disturbed.

Girls are growing up quickly.

It is said that one does not know when girls grow up, but today this saying has started coming true much earlier. Earlier, girls used to reach puberty at the age of 11 to 13 years; today, this age has come down to eight years. One reason behind this is the exposure of girls to makeup. The long list of followers of girls promoting makeup as young influencers on internet media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, etc., attracts even normal girls towards this.

This has an impact on their childish mind that if they also apply makeup, etc., like this, then they will also become famous; otherwise, they have no existence. This mental pressure starts increasing further when makeup products containing various chemicals like parabens and phthalates are applied on the face, becoming the cause of acne, rashes, and other skin-related problems. These also stimulate estrogen, progesterone, and androgen hormones in the body, due to which early puberty is being seen in them.

The right communication will make the matter work.
This also does not mean that you should refuse completely. Such restrictions restrict the girls, which in the future inspires actions like not sharing ideas or becoming rebellious. Talk to the girl according to her age about self-confidence, body image, and the influence of the media. Parents should guide the girls to find beauty in their thoughts, actions, and ambitions more than in the mirror.

Respond to the 'makeup promotion' being done by influencers on the internet media with open communication. Encourage her thinking by asking her questions about her looks and why she wants to do makeup. Instead of imposing your views in this conversation, give her time to decide for herself.

Teach beauty in this way.
Many times, you are also interested in dressing up your daughter. In such a situation, your behavior can confuse her. So it would be better if you explain to your daughter that makeup is just an option, not a necessity, and also tell her your clear expectations. If your daughter is showing interest in makeup, do not silence her by scolding her.

Encourage her curiosity by asking her what she finds exciting in makeup. Choose safe, age-appropriate products for your daughter. Just as you explain the right way to do every task while expecting help in household chores, in the same way, give information about the right way for makeup and beauty. Also, tell them the basics of skin care.

Children often imitate what they see around them. In such a situation, if you are obsessed with makeup, then the same lessons will develop in them too.

Avoid chemical makeup products for girls. Many alternative products are also available in the market.

Celebrate her thoughts, efforts, and kindness more than the beauty of her face.

Tell her that real beauty shines through kindness, confidence and self-esteem, not makeup.

Always remind that importance is determined by character and not by face.
