Parenting Tips: How to prepare formula milk for a newborn baby? Keep these 3 things in mind..

What is the correct way to make formula milk? Mother's milk is best for a newborn baby. It is considered most suitable for the child's immunity, growth, and health. However, if for any reason the baby cannot get breast milk, then formula milk is considered the best alternative. It is prepared keeping the child's needs in mind, and formula milk also provides the child with the necessary nutrition. However, it is very important to prepare the milk correctly. Sometimes, unknowingly, the milk is prepared incorrectly, which negatively affects the child's health. In this regard, pediatrician Mayur Kalsaria has shared a video on his Instagram handle. In this video, the doctor has explained the correct and easy way to prepare formula milk for babies. Let's learn about it -

Keep these 3 things in mind.
Number 1 - Correct quantity
The pediatrician says that the most important thing when preparing formula milk is the correct measurement. Even a slightly less or more amount of powder can be harmful. Adding too much powder can make the milk thick, which makes it difficult for the baby to digest. On the other hand, adding less powder makes the milk thin, resulting in the baby not getting sufficient nutrition.

The doctor explains that when preparing formula milk, always take 1 scoop of powder and mix it with 30 ml of water. Make sure that the scoop is filled with powder correctly.

Number 2 - Discard prepared milk after 2 hours
Many new parents make the mistake of giving the leftover milk to the baby later. However, Dr. Kalsaria advises against doing this at all. He explains that keeping formula milk for more than 2 hours increases the risk of bacterial growth. This can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and infection in the child. Therefore, prepare only as much milk as the child needs immediately and discard the rest.

Number 3 - Do not shake the bottle vigorously.
Many people shake the bottle vigorously to mix the milk, which is the wrong way. Doctors advise that the powder should always be mixed into the bottle by gently swirling it. Shaking vigorously creates many bubbles in the milk. This causes air to enter the baby's stomach, which can lead to gas, stomach pain, and colic. Gentle mixing ensures the milk mixes smoothly and is easily digestible for the baby.

Also, keep these things in mind:
Always use clean, boiled, and cooled (lukewarm) water.
Don't forget to sterilize the bottle and nipple before each feeding.
Also, prepare a fresh feed every time.
By paying attention to these small details, you can take good care of your baby's health.
