According to Dr. Gupta, you should only dress your child in one extra layer than the mother's usual layer during winter. If the mother is wearing three layers, then you should dress the child in four layers.

A common mistake in winter is to immediately dress children in woolen clothes. Dr. Gupta explains that this can cause rashes or itching on the child's skin. Always ensure that the first layer is cotton. Cotton is soft on the skin and provides comfort. You can layer a sweater, jacket, or full-sleeved woolen clothing over it.
