Side Effects of Nail Paint: The habit of always applying nail polish may enhance fashion and personality, but if you want to maintain the health of your nails for a long time, then give them a chance to "breathe" from time to time.

If you always apply nail polish and think that this is just a way to enhance beauty, then be careful. Continuous use of nail polish can have many negative effects on the nails and the surrounding skin. Some chemicals and pigments present in nail polish can cause harm if exposed for a long time. Let's know its major side effects—
Yellowing of nails
Continuously applying nail polish causes the natural color of the nails to fade, and they may turn yellow. The reason for this is the dye and pigments present in the polish, which get deposited in the upper layer of the nail. If the polish is changed repeatedly without a break, then this yellowness can also become permanent.
Thinning and weakening of nails
The acetone used in nail polish remover absorbs moisture from the nails, making them weak, thin, and easily breakable. Continuous use of polish and remover causes nails to lose their strength and flexibility.
Risk of fungal and bacterial infections
When nails are covered with a layer of polish for a long time, the balance of air and moisture on their surface is disturbed. This creates a favorable environment for bacteria and fungi to grow. Especially if there is even a slight crack or injury to the nail under the polish, the risk of infection increases.
Allergies and irritation on the skin
Chemicals present in nail polish, such as formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), can sometimes cause allergic reactions in the skin and cuticles. This can cause problems like redness, irritation, itching, and swelling.
Loss of natural shine and moisture
Continuously applying a layer of polish on the nails reduces their natural shine and moisture. The nails start looking dry, brittle and lifeless.

Preventive measures
Give a break of at least 4–5 days between applying polish continuously.
Use a base coat before applying polish so that the effect of pigment on the nails is reduced.
Use acetone-free remover.
Apply moisturizer or coconut oil on nails and cuticles daily.
