Monsoon Skincare Tips: The humid weather of the monsoon season requires special care for the skin. Face steaming emerges as an easy and effective method for this care. Considered part of the 'Swedan' (sweating) therapy in Ayurveda, steam has been used for centuries to soothe and refresh the skin. It helps open clogged pores, remove excess oil and dirt, and reduce acne-related issues.

Relief from Acne
Face steaming is a natural skincare process that deeply cleanses the skin using steam.
It helps open pores, soften the skin, and improve blood circulation.
Steam loosens oil, sebum, and dirt accumulated in the skin, making cleansing easier.
Steaming before removing blackheads opens the pores and softens the blackheads, allowing them to be extracted easily.
Skin Cleansing
Steam helps hydrate the skin and facilitates cleansing by opening the pores.
A steam facial improves blood circulation, ensuring that oxygen and nutrients reach skin cells more effectively.
This supports the skin's natural care.
Steam also helps maintain the skin's oil balance, leaving the face looking soft, fresh, and healthy.
What is the method?
First Method
To steam your face, take a clean, small towel.
Pour hot water into a heat-proof bowl, soak the towel in it, and wring it out thoroughly.
Place the warm towel on your face.
Ensure the water is not boiling and the towel is not excessively hot.
Perform this process for a maximum of 10 minutes at a time.
Take a short break after two or three minutes, and stop immediately if you feel any burning sensation.
Alternative Method
Boil water in a pot and add orange peels, dried rose petals, lavender, eucalyptus, or other herbs.
After a while, remove the pot from the heat.
Drape a towel over your head and inhale the steam.
Keep your face 8–10 inches away from the water.
Keep your eyes closed while steaming and continue only as long as you feel comfortable.

Important Precautions
You can steam your face two or three times a week; however, if you have dry skin, be sure to apply moisturizer before steaming.
Use a face toner after steaming to maintain the skin's pH balance and tighten the pores.
Excessive steaming can strip the skin of its natural oils, potentially leading to issues like tightness, irritation, redness, and flaking.
Additionally, women suffering from rosacea or eczema should avoid steaming.
