When Shah Rukh first laid eyes on the bungalow
The song "Chand Taare Tod Laoon" from "Yes Boss" was being shot at Bandra's Bandstand. The sea was in sight, and right on its shore was a beautiful old bungalow. During the shoot, Shah Rukh pointed to the bungalow and said to his co-star Juhi Chawla and director Aziz Mirza, "Look, I will definitely buy this house one day." At that time, no one could have imagined that Shah Rukh's joking words would come true.
A Delhi Boy and a Bungalow Dream
In an interview, Shah Rukh revealed that he grew up in Delhi and also owned a bungalow there. After moving to Mumbai, he always thought that if he bought a house here, he would buy a spacious bungalow that would remind him of his Delhi home. Upon seeing Mannat, he felt that this was the house.
From Jannat to Mannat
Shah Rukh and Gauri purchased this bungalow in 2001. Originally named "Jannat," the bungalow was later renamed "Mannat" in 2005, as it symbolized the fulfillment of Shah Rukh's wish (Mannat).
