The festivals of Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami are just around the corner. Naturally, preparing sweets is an essential part of these celebrations. If you wish to make something special for these occasions, you might want to try making *Besan Ladoo* (gram flour sweet balls).

The aroma of pure *desi ghee*, the nutty fragrance of roasted gram flour (*besan*), and the taste of dry fruits make this sweet a universal favorite. You can easily prepare this delicious treat at home. Let’s look at the recipe for making *Besan Ladoo*.
**Besan Ladoo Recipe**
**Total Time:** 45 mins
**Preparation Time:** 15 mins
**Cooking Time:** 30 mins
**Course:** Dessert
**Servings:** 2 people
**Cuisine:** Indian
**Ingredients for Besan Ladoo:**
Gram flour (*Besan*): 2 cups
*Desi Ghee* (Clarified butter): 1/2 cup
*Boora* or *Tagar* (Powdered sugar/sugar granules): 1 cup
Green cardamom powder: 1 teaspoon
Cashews and almonds: 2 tablespoons
Pistachios: 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)
**Method for making Besan Ladoo:**
First, heat a heavy-bottomed pan (*kadhai*) over a low flame and add the *desi ghee*. Once the ghee melts and heats up, add the gram flour (*besan*) and roast it over a low flame, stirring continuously.
As the gram flour roasts, it will begin to release ghee and turn a light golden color. This process takes approximately 15–20 minutes.
Once the gram flour is well-roasted and releases a pleasant aroma, sprinkle a little water over it using your hands.
This will cause the mixture to froth and the granules to swell. Continue stirring until the water evaporates, then turn off the heat. Transfer the roasted gram flour to a plate and let it cool down.

When the mixture has cooled slightly, mix in the cardamom powder, finely chopped cashews and almonds, and the *boora* (sugar). Now, lightly grease your palms with ghee and shape small portions of the mixture into round *laddus* by pressing them together.
Place a pistachio on top of each *laddu* and press down very gently. Do not apply too much pressure, or the *laddus* might break.
