Mahashivratri 2025: The Mahashivratri fast is extremely auspicious and divine. This fast is considered to give all four purusharthas - Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. On this day, the beings who observe fast, anoint, and worship Lord Shiva, the ultimate Siddhidayak, are extremely fortunate. Lord Shiva is benevolent, he gets pleased even with the worship of just a pot of water done with devotion. There is special significance of worshiping Lord Shiva and fasting on the day of Mahashivratri. Offering various holy things on Shivling on this day fulfills wishes and Shiva's blessings are attained. Shiva Purana and other texts mention such holy things, which give different benefits by offering them on Shivling.

Gangajal

Panchamrit

By anointing with Panchamrit (milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar), one gets all the happiness.
