Team India's spectacular journey continues in the Champions Trophy 2025. In its second match, Team India defeated arch-rival Pakistan by 6 wickets and with this, it has almost confirmed its place in the semi-finals. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Team India once again achieved the target of 242 runs in a tremendous manner without any trouble. The star of this victory of Team India was Virat Kohli, who issued a warning to the rest of the teams by scoring a brilliant century. At the same time, Pakistan, which is hosting the tournament, is on the verge of being eliminated in the first round at home.
Everyone was waiting for this blockbuster match on Sunday 23 February in Dubai, but the match was not as exciting as the fans would have expected and desired. But Indian fans definitely got two things - one was the victory of Team India, second was a brilliant century by Virat Kohli (100 not out, 7 fours) while chasing the runs. Kohli, who came to the crease after Rohit Sharma was dismissed early, made a great partnership with Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer and then hit the last four of the match to give the team victory and also completed his 51st ODI century.
Shakeel took control but Kuldeep gave shocks
However, Team India had to wait a bit for the wicket in the beginning because Babar Azam (23) gave Pakistan a better start than expected by hitting some great shots as soon as he came. But as soon as Hardik Pandya took his wicket, his opening partner Imam ul Haq was also out in the very next over. From here the Pakistani team looked in trouble but captain Mohammad Rizwan (46) and Saud Shakeel (62) took charge of the team by making a great partnership. Both of them together made a century partnership.
However, the pace of both was very slow, due to which the Pakistani team did not look to be going towards a big score. Saud Shakeel scored a brilliant half-century but Rizwan missed it. After both of them were out, Khushdil Shah (38) hit some big shots in the end and took the team to a match-worthy score of 241 runs. For Team India, Kuldeep Yadav took 3 wickets and Hardik Pandya took 2 wickets.
Strong attack by Rohit-Gill
Captain Rohit (20), who gave a quick start while chasing against Bangladesh, once again showed the same style and collected boundaries on Shaheen Afridi-Naseem Shah. But he was bowled on a brilliant yorker from Shaheen. But this also did not give any relief to Pakistan because on the other hand, Shubman Gill immediately attacked Shaheen and hit 5 fours in his 2 consecutive overs. On the other hand, Kohli hit fours on Haris Rauf. Gill (46) missed the half-century this time but he was out only after taking the team to 100 runs.
Kohli gave victory with a century
On the other hand, Kohli continued his excellent record against Pakistan and again laid the foundation for a great innings. After Gill was out, Kohli took charge of the run chase in his familiar style and scored a brilliant half-century. On the other hand, after struggling in the beginning, Iyer (56) also opened up and sent the Pakistani bowlers across the boundary with the edge of his bat. Iyer quickly completed his half-century but was out after that. In the end, all eyes were on whether Kohli would be able to complete his century or not, but the star batsman sealed the victory along with the century by hitting the last four.
