Therefore, the auspicious time for Holika Dahan will be from 6:22 PM to 8:50 PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Its total duration will be 2 hours and 28 minutes.

When should Holi be celebrated on March 3 or 4?

According to the calendar, the dates of many festivals have changed this year due to Adhik Maas. Last year, Holi fell in mid-March, but this time the festival of colors will be celebrated on March 4. The difference in dates in different calendars created confusion, but Holi with colors is still valid on March 4.

Effect of Lunar Eclipse

The first lunar eclipse of the year will begin on March 3 at 3:20 PM and end at 6:47 PM. The Sutak period begins approximately nine hours before the eclipse. During the Sutak period, auspicious activities, worship, and celebrations are not considered appropriate. This is why, according to the scriptures, it is considered correct to celebrate Holi on March 4th instead of March 3rd.

The full moon date will be present at sunrise on March 3rd. Bathing, charity, fasting, and worshipping the family deity will be of special importance on this day.
