Holashtak Me Kya Karein Kya Na Karein: The month of Falgun has begun. This month is of great spiritual significance as it is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Falgun is the last month of the Hindu calendar, followed by Chaitra month, which marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year. Major festivals like Mahashivratri and Holi are celebrated during this time. There is an eight-day period before Holi, which is called Holashtak.

It is considered inauspicious to have any new or auspicious event during Holashtak. According to Hindu traditions, the position of the planets is not favorable in these eight days, which can cause obstacles in important events of life. Therefore, all auspicious works like marriage, housewarming, and naming are postponed. However, this period also has a spiritual significance, and it is advisable to follow some rules to maintain positivity and peace. Let us know what to do and what not to do during this period.
Holashtak 2025 Start and End Date
According to the Hindu calendar, Holashtak in 2025 will begin on March 7 and end on March 13, a day before Holi. The period ends with Holika Dahan, which marks the end of negativity and the beginning of the joyous festival of colors.
What to do during Holashtak
Chant Hanuman Chalisa and Mahamrityunjaya Mantra during Holashtak. Reciting these holy verses brings peace, security, and positive energy at home.
Donate to the needy. Giving food, clothes, and money to the underprivileged is a virtuous act, that attracts prosperity and blessings.
Perform Pitru Tarpan during Holashtak. According to religious beliefs, paying homage to ancestors on this occasion brings their blessings and positive karma.
Perform Graha Shanti Puja during Holashtak. These rituals help reduce the effects of negative planetary movements, bringing goodwill to life.
What to avoid during Holashtak
Do not organize marriage or any auspicious ceremony during Holashtak. Ceremonies like marriage, housewarming, mundane, and naming should not be organized at this time.
Construction of a new house should not be started during Holashtak.
Avoid buying gold, silver, or a vehicle during Holashtak. Buying precious metals, property, or vehicles is considered inauspicious during this period.
Avoid starting a new business or job during Holashtak. It is advisable to wait till after Holashtak to start any new business or professional endeavor.
