Regional influence: The name Gujiya is mostly used in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana. Whereas, in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand it is called Gujhiya. Although the method of making it is almost the same, its taste can be slightly different in every state because local flavor is added to it.

Slight difference in the method of making: Both Gujia and Gujhiya are made from a flour dough, in which a filling of dry fruits, khoya, coconut, and sugar is added. However, in some places, Gujhiya is made a little more crispy, and a layer of sugar syrup is applied to it.
