Eye Makeup: Avoid these mistakes when applying eye makeup, or you could end up with an infection or irritation..

Kajal, eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow enhance the attractiveness of the eyes. The skin around the eyes and the inner parts of the eyes are extremely delicate, making proper care essential. Incorrect application or use of makeup can lead to issues such as dryness, redness, and blurred vision. Therefore, it is crucial to prioritize eye safety alongside aesthetic enhancement.

Using products past their expiry date: Old mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow can become breeding grounds for bacteria. Using them can lead to eye infections, conjunctivitis, and inflammation of the eyelids. Mascara, in particular, should generally be replaced every three months. Other products should also be replaced based on their expiry dates and condition.

Sharing makeup with others: Avoid sharing your mascara, eyeliner, or makeup brushes with anyone else. These items can facilitate the transmission of bacteria and viruses from one person to another, increasing the risk of eye infections.

Applying kajal to the inner waterline: Applying kajal or eyeliner to the inner rim of the eyelids can clog the pores of the oil-secreting glands in the eyes. This can cause dryness, irritation, and fluctuations in vision. Individuals who already suffer from dry eye syndrome should be especially cautious.

Sleeping with makeup on: Leaving eye makeup on overnight can clog the glands in the eyelids, potentially leading to irritation and inflammation of the eyelids—a condition known as blepharitis. Always ensure that you gently and thoroughly remove your makeup before going to bed.

Applying makeup too close to the eyes: Eye makeup products containing glitter or fine particles can easily enter the eyes, potentially causing scratches on the cornea or triggering allergic reactions. Avoid using products that tend to flake or shed particles easily.

Using dirty brushes and applicators – Makeup brushes can accumulate oil, dead skin, and bacteria. Therefore, clean your brushes and applicators regularly and ensure they are completely dry before use.

Excessive use of waterproof makeup – Removing waterproof mascara and eyeliner requires more effort. Repeated rubbing can cause irritation to the eyelids and lead to eyelash breakage. Always use a gentle touch when removing such products.
