Bollywood's "He-Man," Dharmendra, is no more. He passed away at the age of 89. But just like his on-screen persona, Dharmendra's personal life was no less than a film story. While he was considered one of cinema's most romantic stars, his heart also beat in love many times—sometimes for his childhood love, sometimes in married life, and sometimes for his dream girl, Hema Malini.

Dharmendra's First Marriage
In 1954, when Dharmendra was just 19 years old, he married Prakash Kaur of Ludhiana. At that time, he dreamed of entering films. His career began to take off a few years after marriage, but he always remained connected to his wife and family. He had four children with Prakash Kaur: Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta, and Ajita. For many years, Dharmendra maintained a balance between his family and work, but in the late 60s, his life took a new turn when he first met Bollywood's dream girl, Hema Malini.
Meeting the Dream Girl
It is said that Dharmendra and Hema Malini first met on the sets of the film "Sharafat." That meeting gradually blossomed into friendship and then love. During the filming of "Sholay," their closeness deepened. Hema Malini's gentle nature and beauty won Dharmendra's heart. But this love story was not an easy one.
Hema Malini's father was against the relationship.
Due to Dharmendra's married life, Hema Malini's father was strongly against their relationship and did not want them to get married. However, Hema Malini clearly told her father that she would marry Dharmendra only. There was a lot of discussion in society and the media. But the two did not give up. Dharmendra decided to marry Hema and converted to Islam so he could remarry without divorce.
Dharmendra's Second Marriage with Hema
On May 2, 1980, the couple became life partners. They had two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. Even today, Hema and Dharmendra remain one of Bollywood's most iconic and celebrated couples. Dharmendra may no longer be with us, but his love story with Hema Malini has been immortalized forever.

Dharmendra may no longer be with us, but their love story will forever be etched in the history of Hindi cinema as an actor who lived love passionately both in front of and behind the camera.
