Chia seeds are very beneficial for health. They contain essential nutrients like fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and antioxidants. But if they are eaten in the wrong way, they can cause harm instead of benefit. Many people make some common mistakes while eating chia seeds, which can spoil digestion or cause problems like gas and bloating. Let us know what those mistakes are and what the right way to eat them is.

Eating dry chia seeds
Many people eat chia seeds without soaking them, which is a big mistake. Chia seeds absorb water, and if they are eaten dry, they can swell in the throat or stomach, which can cause the risk of choking or stomach pain. That is why you should always eat chia seeds after soaking them in water, milk, or any juice for 30 minutes. This makes them gel-like and also easy to digest.
Eating too much
Chia seeds may be healthy, but eating too much at once can be harmful. They contain a lot of fiber, which, if the body is not used to, can cause problems like constipation, gas, and bloating. Start with 1 teaspoon in the beginning and slowly increase it to 1 to 2 tablespoons a day. Also, drink plenty of water.
Making chia pudding in the wrong proportion
When people make pudding with chia seeds, many times they keep the amount of liquid less or make it too quickly, resulting in the pudding not swelling properly. The right way to do this is to mix 3 tablespoons of chia seeds in 1 cup of milk and keep it in the fridge for at least 2-3 hours or overnight. This will give the right texture, and it will also taste delicious.
Using it only as a topping and eating it without chewing
Many people eat chia seeds by sprinkling them on salad or bread, but it is not good to eat them without soaking or chewing them because the body is not able to digest them properly and the nutrients are not obtained. The right way is to always eat them by mixing them in something wet (like yogurt, porridge, milkshake) or eat them after chewing them well.
