Champions Trophy 2025: Why is Pakistan's name written on the Indian team's jersey, Team India will play all the matches in Dubai..

The jersey that the Indian team will wear in the Champions Trophy will have Pakistan written on it. On Tuesday (17 February), the fans of the Indian cricket team got their first glimpse of the tournament jersey. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared these pictures with all the fans of Team India. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India will start its Champions Trophy tournament campaign against Bangladesh.

As soon as the Indian team's Champions Trophy jersey was revealed, everyone noticed only one thing. That was the tournament logo and the name of Pakistan was written on it. The controversy related to the jersey ended as soon as the Champions Trophy kit of the 'Men in Blue' came out. Only last month, the news came out that India does not want to keep the name of the tournament host Pakistan on its team jersey. This matter also came up because Pakistan was hosting the 2023 Asia Cup but India did not write its name on the jersey.

Why is Pakistan's name on India's jersey?
The BCCI had refused to send its team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy matches. After the intervention of the ICC, the Pakistan Cricket Board agreed to hold the tournament in a hybrid model. India will play all its matches at the Dubai International Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Although the matches will be played in Dubai, Pakistan is the official host country of this tournament.

According to the rules of the International Cricket Council (ICC), all teams must have the logo of the tournament on their jerseys. Now that Pakistan has the right to host the Champions Trophy, the logo of the tournament has only its name on it. Not only BCCI, but all the 8 teams playing in the tournament have Pakistan written on their jerseys. Following the ICC rule, India also did the same.

BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia, while talking to the media in January, confirmed that India would follow the ICC rules. Saikia had told PTI, "BCCI will follow every ICC rule related to uniform during the Champions Trophy,"

India has not played any cricket in Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup. The BCCI had already made its stand clear. The Pakistan Cricket Board was constantly trying to put pressure but it was not successful. Finally, it had to agree to hold India's match in Dubai. The Indian team will play all its league matches in Dubai. If the team reaches the semi-finals and finals, then these matches will also be held at this place.
