This year Chaitra Navratri will start from 30th March. This day is Chaitra Shukla Pratipada Tithi. Worship of Maa Durga will start with Kalash Sthapana in the morning. Rules of Chaitra Navratri fast

1. Those who keep fast for 9 days of Navratri have to follow the rules of celibacy, whether they are in married life or single.

2. During the fast of Navratri, stay completely away from vices like lust, anger, greed, etc. Do not criticize others. Keep away from lies, theft, gambling, alcohol, meat, garlic, onion, etc.

3. Maintain purity in the worship of Maa Durga. Impure conduct is completely forbidden. Whatever items are used in the worship, keep in mind their purity.

4. The fasting person should not sleep in the afternoon. Sleeping on the bed is prohibited during the entire Navratri. One should sleep on the floor.

5. If the Kalash of Chaitra Navratri has been established in your house or any member of the family is fasting for 9 days, then all the members of the family should refrain from consuming tamasic items. Eat satvik food. The fasting person should eat fruits.

6. If you go to defecate or urinate during the fast, then after that you should not touch the items of worship, the idol of Maa Durga etc.

7. The unbroken lamp of Navratri should be kept lit throughout Navratri. The fasting person should regularly pour oil in it and take care of it.

8. Girls are considered to be the form of Maa Durga. Kanya Puja can be done every day in Chaitra Navratri. If it is not possible every day, then do Kanya Puja on Durga Ashtami.

9. Perform Havan and Aarti on Ashtami or Navami Tithi of Navratri as per rituals. Send off Brahmins by giving them food and Dakshina.

10. Break the Navratri fast on Dashami. Pour the water of the Kalash at the root of a tree. You can fill the empty Kalash with grains and keep it till the next Navratri.
